A generator fails. How long does the battery last?

In the canonical 1 MW example, a 100 kWh battery delivers 85.5 kWh after discharge and distribution losses. That supplies the load for 307.8 seconds after utility and generator fail at 300 seconds, with depletion at 607.8 seconds elapsed. Charging is disabled. Predict the result, run the experiment, then explain the energy balance.

The interactive interface starts automatically when its scripts load. The hosted demo uses JavaScript. Optional Python verification downloads its runtime only when you request it. Calculations run on your device; no account is required.
